Communications

As you’ve heard by now (hopefully), the communications tool we’ve been using to-date hasn’t worked for everyone—sorry about that. Our new (and hopefully improved) plan is as follows:

  1. Google Groups will be used to distribute and archive conference updates and information. Our group’s email address is osi2016-25@googlegroups.com. Please add this address to your safe senders list. You will be able to view these emails even if you don’t have a Google account or aren’t logged in to Google. You are welcome to use this resource for discussion as well. Note that as with any discussion group, you can adjust your email delivery settings. The information posted to this site will be visible to the public but not open to public participation. If you have difficulty posting to this site, please review the instructions on the OSI2015-26 home page at http://bit.ly/1RdDCvN
  2. These same conference updates will also be archived on the OSI website (note that you can subscribe to a feed by clicking on the RSS button at the top of the page).

Everything Else

For now, there are six items on your “everything else” plate. The first three are new; the last three are reminders.

WORKGROUP QUESTIONS

Which question would you like to focus on at this event? Please visit the OSI2016 agenda page (http://osinitiative.org/2016-agenda/) and email workgroups@osinitiative.org with your top three choices by October 31. The organizing committee will make every effort to assign you to one of your top choices. Our goal is to create workgroups that include a wide variety of stakeholder representatives.

POSTERS

There will be several poster opportunities available at this event. If you would like to submit a poster, please email posters@osinitiative.org with a pdf for consideration. Selected presenters will be responsible for printing and transporting their own posters.

PROFILES

By default, the conference directory will not include expanded profiles for every delegate. The only delegate information that will be listed by default are names and bylines as they appear in the current delegate list. Optional information that you are welcome to include are (1) an expanded 100-word byline, (2) photo (any size), (3) a link to your full online bio, and (3) your preferred contact information. Please email this information to profiles@osinitiative.org.

CONFERENCE FEE

If you received approval to have your registration fee waived, there is no need to go through this step. For everyone else, in order to pay your conference registration fee, please CLICK HERE (which will take you to the OSI2016 registration page) and scroll down to the green box. If you are paying a registration fee, please do so by December 1.

HOTEL REGISTRATION

All delegates are encouraged to stay at the conference hotel, the Hyatt Fairfax at Fair Lakes. The opening night reception begins at the Hyatt on Tuesday the 19th at 6 p.m., and the closing meeting ends at the hotel at 2 p.m. on Friday the 22nd. To make your hotel reservation, CLICK HERE or call toll-free 1-888-421-1442 (402-592-6464). If you will be staying at the Hyatt, please make your hotel reservation by no later than December 1st so we can release any rooms that aren’t needed.

TRAVEL ARRANGEMENTS

Delegates are responsible for booking their own travel arrangements. For delegates staying at the Hyatt Fair Lakes, daily transportation to and from the hotel and George Mason University will be provided. For delegates who are not staying at the hotel but will be driving to and from the conference every day, George Mason University may be offering complementary or discounted parking (more details will be provided later).

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
